Our Policies

Welcome to the Policy Page of Playway Nursery. Your trust and confidence are our top priorities, and we are committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and transparent environment for your child’s growth and development. Below, you’ll find our key policies that outline how we ensure the best experience for your child and family.

Playway Nursery strives to provide a safe and healthy environment to all children attending the nursery by always having a robust Allergy Policy and Procedure in place. Playway Nursery aims to takes utmost care to document all allergies of the children to ensure that they are not exposed to such allergens at the Nursery.

To facilitate better management of children with food allergies, we must ensure the following:

Playway Nursery is to be kept as a “NUT FREE ZONE” at all times and nuts or any products containing nuts are not allowed on the premises. This includes (but may not be limited to) the following:

  • Nuts of any kind
  • Peanut Butter
  • Sweets/cakes containing nuts

If a child brings any food item containing nuts, the food is to be removed from the classroom and handed over to the Nursery Supervisor.

When a child is first enrolled into the nursery, parents are required to provide full details of any allergy in the registration form. Playway Nursery requests full details of any allergy and whether this is a severe allergy and the course of action required.

Children CANNOT start attending nursery without a completed registration form.

Complete Allergy List to be posted in all classrooms and common areas.

Allergy list to be updated by the Nursery nurse on a regular basis. Information about a child’s allergic reactions and allergies must be shared with all nursery staff, including volunteers.

Staff will be made aware of the signs and symptoms of a possible allergic reaction in case of an unknown or first reaction in a child. These may include a rash or hives, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, itchy skin, runny eyes, shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling
of the mouth or tongue, swelling to the airways to the lungs, wheezing and anaphylaxis.

If a child has an allergic reaction to food, a bee sting, plant etc. the Nursery Nurse or another first aid trained member of staff will act quickly and administer the appropriate treatment. Parents must be informed IMMEDIATELY, and it must be recorded in the
incident book. If the allergic reaction is severe, the Nursery Manager will summon an ambulance immediately. We SHOULD NOT attempt to transport the sick/injured child in our own vehicles or public transport. Whilst waiting for the ambulance,
Nursery Manager to contact the parents and arrange to meet them at the hospital.

Emergency contact to be used in case parents are not accessible. A senior member of staff such as the Manager or Nurse must accompany the child and collect registration forms, relevant medication sheets, medication, and child’s comforter. Staff must always remain calm. children who witness an allergic reaction may well be affected by it and may need lots of cuddles and reassurance.

All allergic incidents to be recorded, shared, and signed by parents at the earliest opportunity.

This policy outlines for the children’s attendance at nursery when they are unwell. As a general principle, children should not be in nursery when they are ill, both for their own welfare and also to be fair to other children and protect them from becoming ill.

It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that their child does not attend nursery and put other children/staff at risk.

If a child appears to be unwell as they are brought into nursery, they may be refused admission.

We do not provide day care for children who are unwell, have a temperature or have diarrhoea, sickness or have an infectious disease. If your child is not well enough to participate in the daily activities, they should not attend nursery. An unwell child requires care, which we cannot provide at nursery.

If a child is encountered to be unwell or have high temperature during classes then the clinic staff will immediately contact parents to report the same.

Clinic staff should be authorized with a written consent by the parents to give Panadol in case of high temperature.

Child will be sent home in case of high fever or infectious disease.

This policy outlines the strategies to promote a coordinated approach to the control and management of head lice infection in a consistent and coordinated manner. When a teacher or a staff member notices any head lice or nits on a student or if a student is found to scratch head frequently, then the school clinic staff should be informed immediately.
School Clinic staff shall undertake inspection of any suspected case and examine the other students sharing the same homeroom. Confidentiality being strictly always observed. The school nurse/doctor after confirming the finding will notify the parent or
the guardian by sending the notification form for head lice with recommendation on control and preventative measures.

Exclusion policy: Only those students with live lice detected shall be excluded from nursery. Exclusion is only for the duration of treatment. Students with ‘nits” shall not be excluded.

Regular attendance is of paramount importance, so all children have full access to the curriculum. Valuable learning time is lost when children are absent or late. Children should be at Nursery on all the working days. Parents/Guardians are expected to inform Nursery administration in case of an absence on the first day of leave along with the reason for absence. The preferred mode of communication is through email for record keeping purpose.

If a child is absent for more than 1 month without a written notice, then admission may be cancelled, and deposit amount will be adjusted against the pending tuition fee.

Parents have to re-register in case they want to join back.

Exception can be made for maximum 2 months of absence in an academic year, upon approval from Nursery Management.

This policy establishes constructive relationships with parents, with everyone in the setting and with workers from other agencies. Provide a common ground between educators and parents or families to use in collaborating on a strategy to support the child.

We recognize that parents are children’s first and most enduring educators and we value the contribution they make. We recognize the role that parents have played, and their future role, in educating their children.

Respect the caring ethos and values of our school. Understand that both teachers and parents need to work together for the benefit of their children.

Demonstrate that all members of the school community should be treated with respect and therefore set a good example in their own speech and behavior.

Seek to clarify a child’s version of events with the school’s view to bring about a peaceful solution to any issue before any escalation.
